For the month of May, my wife and I went to Japan, Seattle and Portland to do just that.
Our quest in the Land of the Rising Sun led us to Kyoto’s hallowed temple grounds. After climbing stairs, stairs and one more set of stairs, we found a site that provided tranquility from another world, it seemed. I saw no power lines or poles, just nature and archit
ecturally peaceful buildings, which the Japanese have perfected.
Just as we soaked in the scene, a light rain fell and chased away other tourists, but we just stood there and soaked more of it in. Transported to a simpler time, we could have stayed for hours in that sphere of peace where the world slowed and troubles melted.
In the bustle of today’s work schedules, so many of us are caught up in the grind and might benefit from discovering tranquility that calms the mind to a reservoir of clearer thinking.
