To help clients, I’ve found if others are not treating them nicely, there’s a secret weapon to employ: a smile.
Cool thing is a smile comes in varying degrees. So clients would pick the most appropriate level.
Together we figured if body language accounts for 85% of our communication, it works in our favor (when working to gain acceptance) to avoid the unpleasant resting face or any angry look, replacing it with a pleasant look. A smile. Even a slight smile.
Watching national leaders on daily news interviews, you won’t see much of that these days. What you DO see is tones of anger, distrust and everything it comes with. Kinda brutal to watch.
Perhaps it’s time for a slight smile to start and end conversations, with an ample sprinkling along the way. (Must be genuine. Insincerity never works.)
