You may not know ALL the details of global activity. Your audience may not know, either. But if you’re going to be in front of news media — speaking publicly to persuade — you MUST know details of current events.
So, for example, when a presidential candidate does not know the name of the Syrian center of the global refugee crisis, he may never recover from that faux pas. If he missteps three times, he’s out. Done. Money and time wasted. Reputation tarnished. (Remember the politician who couldn’t spell “potatoes” correctly?)
There IS a way, however, to eliminate such embarrassment, and it’s ALL centered in high-level preparation. Questions. Answers. Executive summaries. Maps. Outlines. Graphs. Charts. Role plays.
Sure, it’s hard for some, but you CANNOT step into the media spotlight without full preparation. Otherwise, it could kill any chance for anything good. Opportunity gone. Game over.
Prepare by starting here.
