Transparency

Want to avoid a crisis communications disaster? Remember this: Transparency.

Everything you do will be transparent, will be uncovered, will be found out. Period.

If that’s reality, decide NOW to not do ANYTHING you cannot defend. Because no matter who you think will keep a secret, chances are SOMETHING will slip at some point and then…your secret is out.

I’ve found when someone knows something juicy, they nearly ALWAYS have to tell just ONE other person. Not always, but nearly always. And that one person, who isn’t beholden to the original person, usually tells one more. And that person…

If you remember, though, that we live in a world of transparency, where everything eventually will be found out (Google Watergate coverup, Bill Cosby antics, Clinton emails, Trump dealings, Tiger Woods, etc.), you’ll find exposure on all sorts of articles that includes nasty words, such as scandals, cheater, etc.

You don’t want that, right? Problem is that info is now in the database FOREVER.

Transparency. That’s the world we live in now.

Living in full candor and being able to defend your exposed words and actions is the best first step to avoiding a damaged reputation, a crisis in communications, a brand stained.
